What's the simplest way to whip up a matcha latte? With a milk frother! Today, we're going to share a collagen & prebiotic filled matcha latte that your skin will absolutely love. :)
Art Of Matcha
The art of matcha, without doubt, includes hand-whisking the powdered green tea, dating back hundreds of years to its origin in Japanese tea ceremonies. But some days, you just cannot be bothered. And on days where you don’t want to engage in a moderately intense wrist workout before enjoying a cup of homemade matcha latte, we got you covered with this neat little trick.
BUT FIRST, WHAT’S WITH THE HYPE AROUND MATCHA LATTES?
Aside from its major heart-eye inducing pastel green hue, a scoop of this vibrant green powder is jam-packed with antioxidants and nutrients. Matcha is also high in L-Theanine, an amino acid found in green tea, because of how it’s shade-grown and harvested, it’s a great source of calming energy without the jitters and drowsiness.
While all the matcha is green tea, not all green tea is matcha. It all depends on how the green tea leaves are grown, harvested, and processed. In short, the leaves of ceremonial-grade matcha are usually shade-grown, hand-picked, and hand-ground into a fine powder. This makes matcha far more nutrient-dense and concentrated than green tea, most of which are highly processed.
Now that we’ve covered the basics of Matcha 101, let’s get to what you came here for!
How to make a matcha latte with a milk frother
Add water or milk of choice into the frother (be mindful of the minimum and maximum fill line so your milk doesn’t over-froth and spill out)
Add ½ tsp matcha powder
Optional: Add 2 scoops collagen powder
Optional: Add 1 tsp prebiotic
Press button to froth (hot or cold!)
Optional: Froth additional milk of choice if you like your lattes creamier
Optional: Add sweetener of choice (I prefer Manuka honey)
After this, if you insist on whisking your matcha as I do every once in a while, I recommend this whisk and bowl set.
